Harpers’s Other Dad has been on a mission of late; one of many, to be sure. While watching his Scottish whiskey hearth-throb, Ralfy, on Youtube, he became aware of a Scottish soft drink called Irn-Bru. Spo reflected on this recently; Irn-Bru.
The challenge has been that it is not sold by retailers in the States, at least not in AZ, so his quest to quench with Irn-Bru has been in vain. That is until today! Working under the theory that one truly can find anything on the internet, I was able to track a 6-pack of said nectar; one of only two in the greater Harper’s Valley metropolitan area.
My source advised that it might be a little past its prime, fizz-wise, as it’s “Best By” date was approaching. Since we have no basis comparison I am not sure we will notice but I appreciated the ‘heads-up’. Hearing he was having a stressful day, I dropped off a bottle at this office before lunch.
The review is still pending. I am sure there will be ‘reflections’.
you are a good husband; hope you will be rewarded nicely for your efforts! 🙂
We have a store here in Ames that advertises that they have it http://www.amesbritishfoods.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=cEcommerce.dspProducts&CategoryID=1393
If your source doesn’t work out I think you can order directly from them.
Harper’s Keeper could also go to http://www.irn-bru-usa.com/orderonline.html and get it there. Isn’t the internet a beautiful thing?
I found that too. Thanks! I wanted to make sure he’d like it before I invested in a case (plus shipping cost). I was able to pick up a 6 pack at a local kilt rental shop…. which was a learning experience too. Who knew one can rent kilts like tuxedos?
I always thought it was an international drink. Live and learn! It’s been around even since I was a boy, though was then called by it’s full name of ‘Iron Brew’.
It’s a nice mixer for Scotch, though I tend to prefer Scotch with Ginger (Beer), which seems to be a peculiarly English combo – at least when I used to order it in Germany or France they’d know immediately where I came from.
I’ll make sure Spo knows that. We are both so corrupt. The first thing we thought of after tasting it was; ‘I wonder what kind of cocktail can be made with this’.
Nice going! Gotta love the internet! A couple years ago I was trying to locate a specific brew in the area, and I found some within walking distance of my apartment.
