    • Thanks. Harper’s Other Dad is more creative than I. One of mine is the same every year; it’s the one on the right in the photo.
      I did something different this year in that I carved one on its side so the stem looked like a nose. I looked kind of cool in the light but, of course, in the dark it just looks like it has no nose. Perhaps it was inspired by the recent opera.

    • Casa de Harper splits on the issue at Christmas. My grandmother had the superstition that it was bad luck to carry the decorations over into the new year so we always had them down by New Year’s Eve. Harper’s Other Dad grew up with a more Catholic view of carrying them through to Epiphany. I think we have fallen into the convenient habit of taking them down the weekend after Christmas, whenever that may fall on the calendar.
