Since 1990 Tucson has a huge community festival called the All Souls Procession to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Technically All Souls Day is November 2 but by local tradition the celebration is on Sunday evening so this year it was on November 3rd.
Homer of Homer’s World has an annual cocktail party before the event. It was a terrific afternoon of food, drink and conversation. The guests ranged in age from toddlers to retirees and, as the saying goes, a good time was had by all. As dusk approached, the guests walked downtown to see the Procession. The Procession is a parade and it ends at an outdoor venue where there is food and music.
The weather was cooperative offering a warm clear night for the Procession and subsequent events. The only downside was, because it was a two-hour drive home to Casa de Harper, we could not stay as long as we would have liked. Thanks to Homer for including us.
