Occasionally, in the past, I’ve used this blog to rant share my thoughts in a casual manner about the political climate in Arizona. The kindest term I can think of to described it is ‘toxic’. And, of course, the mid-term election was earlier this month so the climate was even more hostile in the weeks leading up to the election, and more than usually depressing in the weeks that followed. It was only recently, however, that I was confronted with the magnitude of the effect this environment has had upon my psyche. I fear the fundamental chemistry of my brain may have been affected.
A friend updated his profile picture on a major social media platform.
As I scrolled though the updates, what my eyes saw was a photo of legendary stage and screen performer Carol Channing.. What I should have thought was; ‘ Oh you! What a scamp you are for posting a photo of Ms Channing as your profile picture in that camp fashion that can really only be carried off by one of nature’s bachelors’.
What my mind thought I saw, however, was …..
And what I did think was; ‘Why in world would you change your profile picture to photo of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer?!?’
I need to find a support group… immediately.

You need to move to Vermont! Much more civilized and pleasant, in fact it is one of my favorite State in the Union.
New England and the Northeast are areas I long to explore. I have been to Connecticut and Massachusetts but no place North.
Eh – Vermont has serious drug and crime issues right now. Massachusetts is nice but a bit expensive and winter is a concern.
Perhaps just a trip to have your vision checked, It happens 😉

Let me make this even worse, which is to say even cloudier. When I saw the first picture, I briefly thought it was Mary Tyler Moore. I personally have been ‘blessed’ by never having seen a photo of Jan Brewer (before now) to confuse me!
I wonder whether there are any local chapters of “Arizonans Anonymous” you could attend.

Had i seen that i would have suggested group therapy for my friend, and an eye exam for me!

I had not thought of it but, no that you mention it, I can see it clearly. I think it was the hair color that excluded her in my subconscious though I have not seen her lately and she is certainly of an age where it would not be surprising.. Aren’t we all. 🙂
